PLAN YOUR NEXT CAMPAIGN

A UGC brief template for brands hiring creators

A good brief gives a creator enough direction to make useful content and enough freedom to sound like themselves. Copy the fields below into your campaign notes, replace the prompts with your details, and agree on the scope before production.

1. Product, audience and campaign goal

Name the product, include a working product link, and describe the person you want to reach. Choose one main job for the content: explain how the product works, introduce a launch, answer a buying question or show it in an everyday routine.

Write the message in plain language. Give the creator approved product facts and a short list of claims to avoid. Ask for their real perspective; do not script an experience they have not had.

  • Brand and product: [name, product link and key facts]
  • Audience: [location, language, needs and context]
  • Goal: [one action or question the content should address]
  • Key message: [the single idea viewers should remember]
  • Call to action: [visit the product page, learn more or another agreed action]

2. Deliverables and creative direction

Specify the finished files you are buying. Reference examples can help communicate pacing or framing, but describe what you like about them rather than asking the creator to copy another person’s work.

Confirm whether the creator is delivering files to your team or also publishing on their own account. If posting is included, list the platform, account and required timing.

  • Assets: [quantity, video length, orientation and file format]
  • Creative direction: [product demo, unboxing, routine or other format]
  • Required shots: [product details or steps that must be visible]
  • Audio and text: [language, subtitles, voiceover and approved wording]
  • Posting: [delivery only, or named creator channels and dates]

3. Budget, delivery and feedback

Set out your budget and ask the creator to confirm what it covers. Include product shipping, travel or props where relevant. A clear timetable depends on the creator receiving the product and any approved information on time.

Choose one person to consolidate feedback. Distinguish an edit to an agreed draft from a new concept or reshoot; changing the brief after production may require a new fee and delivery date.

  • Budget: [amount, currency, included expenses and payment terms]
  • Product arrival: [date and shipping responsibility]
  • First draft and final delivery: [dates]
  • Review: [approver, response time and revision rounds]
  • Scope changes: [how extra work will be agreed]

4. Usage and final handoff

List where your brand intends to use the work and for how long. Confirm paid advertising, edits, raw footage, exclusivity and creator-account advertising separately where needed. Keep the agreed terms with the campaign so the person publishing the assets can check them.

Before accepting a final delivery, check it against the brief: file quality, required shots, approved wording, captions and the agreed call to action. On UseHype, keep the brief, proposals, submissions and feedback connected in the campaign workspace.

  • Usage: [brand channels, territory and duration]
  • Paid ads: [included or excluded; agreed terms if included]
  • Handoff: [finished exports and any agreed source files]
  • Approval: [the checklist used to accept the deliverables]
