Hiring UGC creators across Nigerian cities: plan location and delivery

By UseHype · Brand campaign guides

Use location to solve a production requirement: access to a venue, product shipping, language or a local scene. A city label does not prove a creator’s availability, service quality or price. Confirm the actual filming location and travel expectations in the brief.

Lagos: separate the address from the production plan

If the shoot needs a particular shop, neighbourhood or venue, specify it instead of asking only for a Lagos creator. Confirm access, travel allowance, equipment transport and the expected filming window. Allow the creator to raise practical constraints before you set the schedule.

For a remote product demonstration, being near your office may matter less than having an appropriate setup and a reliable delivery route. Compare relevant samples first, then use location to resolve the logistics.

Abuja and Port Harcourt: confirm access before booking

For an Abuja venue or an on-site Port Harcourt brief, establish who can authorise filming and whether guests or staff may appear. Ask for a location-specific plan without assuming that every creator in the city knows the venue.

A pre-shoot call can confirm parking or access arrangements, background sound and the parts of the premises available to film. Record cancellation or rescheduling terms when access depends on another business.

Ibadan and Ogun: name the actual destination

A state and a city are not interchangeable location filters. A creator based in Ogun may still need significant travel to the particular address in your brief. Ask for the starting location privately where necessary and agree the travel scope.

If the work can be filmed at the creator’s own setup, share product dimensions, handling needs and delivery expectations. For fragile or perishable items, plan packaging and timing with the creator before dispatch.

Ilorin, Abia and Delta: avoid broad regional assumptions

Name Ilorin or the relevant city in Kwara when the location matters. For Abia or Delta, specify the actual town, venue or service area rather than treating the entire state as one local shoot. Check the creator’s language and production strengths directly.

Do not assume that creators outside a major city are automatically cheaper or less experienced. Compare the same scope and account for shipping, travel and equipment needs. Ask for examples of the format you intend to commission.

Remote and international buyers

For US, UK or other international buyers commissioning Nigerian creators, agree the intended audience, language, product access, invoice currency, payment route and usage territories. A Nigerian location alone does not establish suitability for every English-speaking audience.

When comparing Ghana and Nigeria, assess actual candidates and operational requirements rather than presenting unsourced country-wide rate averages. Confirm supported payment and shipping arrangements for each project. Use a remote demonstration only when the creator can truthfully show the product or service.
