UGC advertising checks: claims, ARCON review and commercial music
By UseHype · Brand campaign guides
Treat a creator advertisement as a real advertising asset, even when it is filmed casually on a phone. Assign responsibility for claims, permissions and any required regulatory review before production. This is an operational checklist; obtain qualified advice on the rules applying to your campaign.

Build a claims sheet before the script
List each proposed product claim beside its supporting evidence and the person authorised to approve it. Separate a visible feature, a subjective opinion and a measured result. A creator should not have to invent evidence or infer legal wording from a competitor’s video.
For a skincare or financial product, have the appropriate qualified reviewer resolve sensitive claims before filming. Give the creator acceptable wording and specific prohibited claims. “Avoid unsupported treatment claims” is more useful when accompanied by the exact statements the brand can substantiate.
Confirm the applicable ARCON process
ARCON publishes advertising-vetting information and guidelines through its official site. Use those materials and a qualified practitioner to determine the process for the campaign you intend to run. Keep any required submissions, approvals and conditions with the project record.
Do not assume that a short duration, a small creator account or a social-media format automatically removes review obligations. Equally, do not repeat a blanket rule about every informal post without checking its application. Assign the decision to a competent reviewer rather than leaving it to the person exporting the video.
Check the music for its intended use
A track being available in an editing app or popular on TikTok does not by itself establish permission for every advertisement and channel. Identify the recording, licence, territory, placement and duration that cover your planned use. Keep the evidence with the final asset.
TikTok’s Commercial Music Library guidance tells advertisers to select the campaign region and filter by usable placements. Check the selected track and current conditions. Do not assume that a TikTok music permission also covers an exported ad on another platform, a website or a retail screen.
Review the final asset, including captions
A compliant script can become misleading through a visual, edit or caption. Review the complete export and destination together. Check whether qualifications are readable and whether the shown product matches the offer.
Remove private information and confirm permission for identifiable participants and third-party material. Keep genuine opinions intact when editing testimonials. Do not cut a limitation out of a sentence in a way that changes its meaning.
Keep a launch and change record
Record the approved file version, claims reviewer, permissions, publication destinations and relevant expiry dates. If the offer, product or planned channel changes, reassess the asset before reusing it.
Prepare a contact and correction process for disputed claims or permissions. A stored approval is useful evidence of the workflow, but it is not a reason to continue an inaccurate advertisement after the underlying facts change.
