A freelance UGC rate card is a menu of clearly scoped services. It is not a promise of monthly income. Build prices from your production time, expenses, usage and capacity, then compare actual enquiries with the work you can profitably deliver.

## Separate revenue, take-home income and salary

A project fee is business revenue before costs. Equipment, data, travel, software, assistants and unpaid administration can reduce what remains. A salaried content role may include different responsibilities and employment terms from freelance production. Do not compare the two using the headline amount alone.

Keep a simple record for each job: quoted amount, received amount, direct expenses, hours worked and payment date. Review completed jobs rather than projecting annual income from one unusually good week. Student or side-hustle work still needs time for communication and revisions.

## Build the base scope

Describe what you deliver: format, quantity, duration, filming setup, language, editing, feedback rounds and delivery assumptions. Separate content-only work from posting. List the usage included or the terms that need discussion.

For a spoken video, count preparation and retakes as well as the final recording time. For product photography, consider styling, lighting, number of setups and retouching. For voiceover, define the approved script, recording style, pronunciation requirements and treatment of later script changes.

## Make bundles easier to understand

A bundle can share setup work across several assets, but it can also introduce more concepts, locations and reviewers. Identify which tasks are shared before deciding whether to offer a lower per-asset price. Avoid calling a bundle cheaper if it removes important deliverables.

A useful package might include one demonstration and two opening variations from the same shoot. Specify whether those variations are separate full exports. A photography package should state the number of finished images, not only the number of shutter presses.

## Quote raw material and usage explicitly

Raw footage may need sorting, transfer and checks for private or unusable material. Editable projects may depend on licensed fonts, plugins or music. Agree what is included and how the buyer may use it instead of treating all source files as an automatic handoff.

A longer ad licence or exclusivity request can change the commercial scope. There is no single percentage that every creator must charge. Ask what the buyer needs, assess the implications and record the agreed terms before accepting.

## Keep a rate-card example editable

Use these headings: service; deliverables; production assumptions; included feedback; timeline; permitted use; fee; optional additions. Fill them with your own scope and prices. Put an expiry date on a quote if availability or supplier costs can change.

When an international buyer pays in another currency, agree the invoice currency, payment method, fees and treatment of conversion. Check current provider eligibility and withdrawal terms directly. Do not promise a particular exchange rate or next-day payout unless the actual arrangement supports it.
